Last Push to Expand Protections at Duxbury: Comment by Sept 30

The Fish & Game Commission will be voting on whether to expand protections at Duxbury Reef on October 16th. Both the California Department of Fish & Wildlife and the Ocean Protection Council have recommended that the full extent of Duxbury Reef’s intertidal habitat be protected within a State Marine Conservation Area (SMCA).

We hope you will join us in supporting an expanded SMCA and our updated position, which will better protect this amazing rocky reef habitat for over 200 species. This strikes a delicate balance by continuing to allow for some recreational fishing and most commercial fishing offshore while providing the stronger protections needed.

Send comments by September 30th at 5 PM (preferred), or October 8th by noon (latest) through our template below.

Attend the meeting on Friday, October 16th.

Say NO to Polluters: Vote NO on Prop 45

We've joined over 390 organizations in opposing Proposition 45, which hurts communities and the environment. This ballot measure:

  • Harms air and water quality and public health by gutting the California Environmental Quality Act, which requires that harm to air, water, and wildlife be disclosed and reduced before projects are approved.
  • Fast-tracks costly polluting projects, like data centers, forest clear-cutting, dams, CO2 pipelines, freeway expansions, landfill gas facilities, & luxury housing in high fire risk areas.
  • Silences community voices in favor of corporate developers, so that decisions about what gets built near homes, schools, and water supplies are made with less information, less public input, and fewer ways to protect yourself.
  • Costs taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars as they foot the bill for pollution clean-up instead of corporations.

This November, vote NO on Prop 45 to protect public health and the environment! Share this info with your friends, family, & community, or endorse a no vote.
