Protect future parkland and open space in Marin County by voting No on D

Greetings Friend,

Since 2017, EAC has supported the transformation of 157 acres of the former San Geronimo Golf Course Property into public preserve and open space that would provide a wide range of ecological and community benefits. Rather than celebrating this opportunity, a special interest group has opted to create community division and place the intentionally misleading Measure D on the March 3rd ballot.

Why EAC is No on D:

  • Measure D is intentionally misleading. It does not bring golf back and does not protect community plans. Measure D seeks to block restoration and recreational benefits while setting the stage for future development in the San Geronimo Valley. As the Marin IJ recently stated, "Measure D simply imposes an onerous and unfair planning hurdle. The IJ recommends a no vote on Measure D."

Vote No on Measure D to:

  • Permanently protect 157 acres of land from development.
  • Protect a vital habitat restoration project to benefit endangered Coho salmon and threatened Steelhead trout populations.
  • Protect local community planning. If Measure D passes, it would rewrite the San Geronimo Valley Community Plan. This unprecedented act would expose all of Marin’s community plans – developed locally to address distinct needs and planning goals – to a countywide referendum. Here, voters are being asked to decide the fate of the San Geronimo community.
  • Create an outdoor classroom for our children. Since Trust for Public Land purchased the property, EAC has used the property to provide more than 200 students opportunities to experience the diverse and unique habitats of Marin County Parks and Open Space.
  • Remove herbicide and pesticide use that harms our human and natural communities.
  • Save 50 million gallons of water annually that was being withdrawn from our creeks and reservoirs to keep the golf course green.
