Land | Open Letter to EAC Membership Dear EAC Membership,This is an unusually long letter -- but necessary because the final opportunity to guide fundamental planning for the Point Reyes National Seashore is now. The Seashore needs to hear from you in the next two weeks! We are writing you to give you information on the planning process and to enable you to submit comments that support the long-term protection of the Seashore’s resources, including the park’s scenery, natural and historic objects, wildlife, and the ecological processes and conditions that created the park. The Seashore initiated a public planning process that seeks to establish guidance for the preservation of natural and cultural resources and the management of infrastructure and visitor use in the planning area. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS), which is part of the General Management Plan Amendment (or GMPA) process, addresses the future management of Tule elk populations and all currently leased ranch lands. It will be revised into final form taking public comments into account. Keep Reading...
Events | Piper on the Beach | 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm (Sunset: 7:22 pm | Moonrise: 8:03 pm) Join the EAC staff and our special guests around a fire (weather permitting) at Drakes Beach to usher in the Harvest moon and new season. We plan to meet just to the west (or right of the beach) depending on space availability. Mia Monroe will MC our evening, while Dan McNear will entertain us throughout the evening with the sounds from the bagpipe. Our evening will include storytelling from award-winning storyteller Ane Carla Rovetta, and a night sky talk with Todd Plummer, weather permitting. Download sky app. If you plan to stay longer, and want to have a beach fire, please note beach fires are by permit only, weather permitting, and must be secured from an open visitor center before 5 pm. Please wear layers, and good walking shoes. Bring blankets, chair(s), a picnic dinner, and a flashlight. Sorry, no pets please. Carpools encouraged. Please pack out, what you pack in. This is a public event, no membership is required, but we invite you to join our member circle, or renew your support. Tradition is to Pay the Piper, where proceeds benefit our special guests and our nonprofit mission to protect and sustain the unique lands, waters, and biodiversity of West Marin. Due to 2019 winter storm damage Vision Road is closed. We will relocate this year’s event to Drakes Beach. Learn More
