Join us for Litter Bugs Me in support of a Cleaner CA Coast!
September 15th-19th, 2026
Litter Bugs Me is a biannual event and a great way to bring our members and local community together to make a difference for the wildlife and habitats in the West Marin watershed. We coordinate this opportunity for volunteers to join together to clean up roadsides and beaches before winter rains wash trash into our waterways and ocean.
This year, our Litter Bugs Me, roadside cleanup event is being held Tuesday, September 15th to Saturday, September 18th, 2026.
Sign up as a "Team Up To Clean Up" Community Group, or as an Individual Volunteer (Tuesday, September 15-19; Coastal Clean Up Day is Saturday 19th).
Volunteers and groups can choose a date and reserve supplies on the sign-up form.
Volunteers can borrow all necessary supplies, including safety vests, reusable bags, buckets, grabbers, and gloves.
Coordinate supplies pick-up and return with our office. Best to pick up and return on the same day as your clean-up.
Saturday Coastal Cleanup Day (September 19th) is traditionally the best day for individuals to sign up and share the work with other individual volunteers.
Community groups traditionally sign up for one of the weekdays, but if Saturday is better for your group, you can sign up for the 19th on Coastal Cleanup Day. If you sign up your team for Saturday, check in at EAC's office by 9:00 am, 65 Third Street, Suite 12, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956. When you arrive, you’ll check in, fill out or bring in our waiver, and borrow supplies.
Each adult must sign up as an individual, but you can also bring kids (registration will ask about # of people in your group).
Team/group coordinators sign up for the group and tell us how many are in your group. However all participants must sign a waiver.
Trash can be deposited in Recology’s bins at Whitehouse Pool parking lot (map) starting September 15th until 12:00 noon on September 19th (Coastal Cleanup Day) to be counted in the California Coastal Cleanup Day tally.
If you deposit trash elsewhere, please estimate the weight and volume, and email this information to us.
PLEASE TAKE PHOTOS and share them with EAC through this link.
Lastly, we recommend wearing a sunhat, sunscreen, layered clothing that can get dirty, and closed-toed shoes.
And we suggest bringing something to drink with you as well. We'll have light snacks and a drink for you when you check in your supplies, too.
THANK YOU!
Team leaders should pick a route using one of the following ticket types and answer the additional questions so we can collect how many per team, what day you are planning to clean up, if you need supplies, etc. Individuals can sign up here, but we encourage individuals to sign up for Coastal Clean Up Day on Saturday, September 19th. Any spaces or roadside stretches not cleaned up during the week will be our primary mission on Saturday.
