Calling all families with fledglings ages 3 - 16! Bring your brood out to Point Reyes Station on Saturday, April 27 to learn more about bird life at the 10th anniversary of the Point Reyes Birding & Nature Festival. Our Youth & Family Programming will kick off with a special live bird presentation from The Bird Rescue Center of Sonoma County who will bring two live Bird Ambassadors for us to learn about their lifecycle, adaptations and more. 

Afterwards join us for activities including:

• A bird and wildlife touch table

• Wildlife games and activities (coloring, mask making, bird origami and bird wishing tree stations, wing span and migration games)

• Binocular Bootcamp 101 (learn how to use binoculars and about the 16 birds who migrate between Marin and Mexico)

• Marin Country Free Library (check out books and bird backpacks)

• Face Painting by Shelley Rugg

• Barn owl pellet dissection station, courtesy of Pellets, Inc. & Carolina

  • Each child will receive a pellet to dissect. The Barn Owl is the only bird of prey that swallows its prey whole and then regurgitates the entire skeletal remain. It digests the flesh and then casts the fur and bones of the animal it ate. Each pellet will contain at least one entire skeletal remain of likely a vole or mole but likely more than one.
